    It is a sad day today. I just found out that a good friend passed away after a long battle with cancer. Dan Piro who was the editor of Hardball Magazine lost his battle with cancer in late January. I first met Dan and his wife Jackie in Arizona at the MSBL World Series. They are the kind of people everyone instantly likes. I have advertised my bat business in "Hardball" for several years and wrote a few articles for the magazine at Dan's request. His latest project was to create a blog and have players from across the country contribute from time to time. We spoke in mid January and I was anxiously awaiting his call to tell me that the project had started. Obviously that call never came. Dan fought hard, and remained upbeat throughout his ordeal. He never gave in to this terrible disease getting all the information he could on the subject while trying his best to remain active and productive. I will really miss Dan. We had many conversations over the years, and he always found a way to bring a smile to my face. His enthusiasm and love of life was contagious.
   So goodbye my friend. We will meet again some day.Â
